sportsense user guide.
sportsense helps you better leverage video while coaching in person or remotely. In this guide, we walk through how to use the app, from capturing video and analysis to sharing feedback and getting paid.
Video analysis tools.
Capture, review, compare, and annotate video directly from the app. These tools are designed for frame-level precision, whether you are coaching in person or breaking down footage remotely.
Record opens the sportsense recorder. Use it to quickly capture video and add clips directly to your media library.
Tap the + button in the top right corner to import videos from your phone's camera roll.
The bottom navigation bar switches between your video library, the sportsense camera, and share.
Use Filter in the top menu to sort by type, user, or date. You can also sort by tags. The users available for tagging come from people you are connected with in a feed.
Tap on a video from the library or a feed to open it in the analyzer. Swipe left or right to move between videos while staying in the analyzer view.
The bottom menu contains your core analysis tools.
Drawing includes lines and angles for marking up the frame.
Use the haptic scroller to pinpoint a specific moment, and frame-by-frame controls for precise adjustments.
Select the black and white square in the menu to enter Compare mode, where you can view multiple videos side by side.
Once comparing, tap the racing flags icon to activate Race Time. This lets you line up two clips and compare timing. The app displays an interval (for example, +0.5 s) showing the difference. This works best when both clips share a common start and end point.
Ghost mode is another comparison method. You can activate it while using Compare or Race Time. It overlays one run on top of another for a direct comparison of technique.
Ghost mode works best with fixed cameras, or when using head or body tracking of the athlete.
Draw directly on the video to annotate. The annotations menu offers multiple drawing options. If you make a mistake, tap the back arrow on the far left of the draw menu.
Exit the draw menu and annotations will disappear from view.
To measure angles, use the angle draw function in the annotations menu. Alternatively, tap two segments of the skeleton to quickly compare an angle around a joint.
The Skeleton (ball and stick model) is an excellent tool for frame-by-frame and slow-motion analysis. Tap again to activate the Center of Gravity tracker.
Feedback & sharing.
Record your analysis, edit clips, and share video feedback directly with athletes through feeds. Everything is designed to package coaching into something your athletes can watch back and learn from.
Tap Record in the top right corner to start recording your analysis. The record function was designed to package coaching feedback. Once you have the footage you want, you can move on to sharing.
If you have not created a feed yet, skip ahead to the Creating a Feed section.
Open the video editor when posting or directly from the video library.
Multi-select videos from the library to add them to the editor. Inside, you can trim, split, and slow down clips. Once you tap export, the clips merge into a single video.
When posting to a feed, select Add Feedback.
This allows you to make final edits to the video and write or transcribe a description for the post.
You can tag the sport and action being shown. If the feed already has a sport set, it will apply automatically. These tags let you filter videos from within a feed.
Feeds, invites & payments.
Feeds are the core of how you organize coaching on sportsense. They house all video, feedback, messaging, and files between you and your athletes. This section also covers invites, reference libraries, and getting paid.
Go to the share tab and tap the + in the top right to create a feed. To edit an existing feed, tap on the feed title.
Anyone can create a private feed. Group feeds and reference feeds require a Pro license.
When setting up a feed, you can name it, add an image, and assign a sport. Setting a sport unlocks future features like suggested reels.
If you have set up payments, you can enable tips in the feed settings. You can also disable posting for non-admins and toggle the chat section on or off.
Your athletes and clients can always post to a feed, even without a license.
Invite athletes or other coaches to a feed by sharing an invite link directly from the feed settings. Anyone with the link can join the feed.
Invites are the primary way to bring new users into your coaching workflow. Athletes do not need a paid license to accept an invite and participate in a feed.
You can share a direct link to any post within a feed. This is useful for sending specific feedback to an athlete outside the app, or for referencing a particular video breakdown in a message or email.
Reference libraries are curated feeds that contain instructional or example content. They act as a skill progression library that athletes can browse and learn from at their own pace.
To receive payments through sportsense, go to your account settings and follow the payment setup flow. This connects your account to our payment processor so you can receive tips and subscription payments directly through the app.
Once payments are set up, you can enable tipping on individual feeds from the feed edit screen.
Once payments are configured, your athletes can send you tips directly through any feed where tipping is enabled. Tips appear in your payment dashboard within your account settings.
